Cosmetology Program

Our 1500-hour cosmetology program is approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission
and the Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists.

Training
Beginning students spend class time listening to lectures, watching demonstrations, reading, and applying theories to practical mannequin work.  Upon reaching 350 hours, completing scheduled assignments and passing all tests, students start gaining practical experience by working with clients in the non-request full service clinic, advancing from basic hair setting and cutting to chemical processing such as permanent waving, hair coloring and straightening.  As students approach graduation, they start learning the business of cosmetology, preparing them to be successful financially and creatively.

Graduation Requirements

  • Successful completion of 1500 clock hours.
  • A minimum of a C average overall and passing grade of at least 75% on each topic test.
  • A minimum of a C in the comprehensive final examination.
  • A cumulative attendance rate of at least 80%.
